Paula, a 40-year resident of the North, previously served as a Municipal Councillor for the Town of Athabasca for nine years and is a retired teacher. Paula understands that community development is as important as economic development if a community plans to retain both its workforce and younger generations. She is currently the chair of the Alice B. Donahue Library and Archives Board, treasurer for the Athabasca Heritage Society, and a member of Science Outreach Athabasca, the Baptiste and Island Lake Stewardship Society and the Crooked Creek Conservancy. All these community development initiatives strive to improve the quality of life of northern citizens. Paula would like to focus her time with NADC on helping to develop and refine government services and programs, with a particular emphasis on advancing NADC bursaries that encourage providing students with learning experience in much needed employment sectors in the North.
